XBB.1.16, new Arcturus variant 

India has recorded 10,753 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry data. Daily positivity rate stands at 6.78 percent, whereas Weekly Positivity Rate at 4.49 percent. It is believed that the Omicron subvariant, XBB.1.16 is driving the latest surge in the country. In March, World Health Organisation (WHO) declared XBB.1.16 as a “variant under monitoring”

PM Modi inaugurates AIIMS Guwahati, 3 New Medical Colleges in Assam, 400 MBBS seats to be added

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated AIIMS Guwahati and three other medical colleges to the nation. With these new medical institutes, 400 MBBS seats have been added to the state’s seat matrix taking the total to around 1500 seats.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various projects worth more than Rs. 3,400 crores in Guwahati, Assam. He also laid the foundation stone of Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) and launched ‘Aapke Dwar Ayushman’ campaign by distributing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards to eligible beneficiaries.

Can NEET candidates with low benchmark disability get admission against vacant MBBS seats? Delhi HC seeks Centre’s response

Asking if NEET candidates with less than benchmark disability should be allowed to get admitted in the MBBS course against the unfilled seats reserved for persons with disabilities (PwD), the Delhi High Court on Thursday has sought a ”detailed and exhaustive reply” from the Centre.

The Delhi high court bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma stated that the plea raised an important issue and granted six weeks to the central government to furnish its stand on the matter.

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital doctors successfully implant transcatheter pulmonary valve 

A 36-year-old female patient with Severe Right heart failure, Secondary liver and kidney issues underwent the first-ever TPVR procedure in the western Tamil Nadu region done at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore recently, and now has safely got discharged.

The patient had a congenital heart disease where she had a hole in her heart and a block in her pulmonary valve. She underwent open heart surgery at the age of 3, through which the hole in her heart was closed and the block in her pulmonary valve was released.
