Pancreatic Cancer and Its Symptoms: Pancreatic cancer, also known by the name ‘silent killer’ is one of those types of cancers that comes without any symptoms. Yes, you read that right! A patient suffering from pancreatic cancer doesn’t show up symptoms during its initial stages. However, the symptoms only appear when the cancer has spread to the other parts of the body. This type of cancer can be hard to detect by the patient, thus understanding the unusual symptoms that can appear when the pancreas is at risk is important.
We spoke to Dr Deeksha Kapoor, Consultant, GI Surgery, GI Oncology and Bariatric Surgery, Institute of Digestive and Hepatobiliary Sciences, Medanta, Gurugram, to understand how to detect this silent killer, and what one can do to keep this type of cancer at bay. According to Dr Kapoor, since the disease attacks the pancreas, a gland in your abdomen that aids in digestion, the first sign when the organ is in trouble will be related to indigestion.
