Ever since Zeenat Aman made her Instagram debut, she has been successful in evoking multiple emotions in her fans with just a single post. The actress, whose profile is a treasure trove for old memories, provides her fans glimpses of her past life – be it that of an actress or a single mother to two boys. Azaan and Zahaan are her sons with husband Mazhar Khan, who died in 1998. In her latest post, Zeenam Aman shared “some optional pearls of wisdom for any new parents.” She also shared how she fulfilled the “overwhelming, joyous and challenging” role of a parent to her boys with “unconditional love.” Alongside her heartwarming caption, the veteran actress posted a throwback picture from 1990, featuring her with her sons at the “now-demolished Sea Rock Hotel in Bandra.”
Zeenat Aman’s caption read: “There’s no guidebook in the world that can really prepare you for parenthood. It’s exhilarating, overwhelming, joyous, and yes, challenging. Once my children were born, they became my sole priority. And as a single mother to two boys, I felt doubly responsible for my babies. More than anything, I wanted to protect them, and shape them to be kind and loving men.” She added: “My approach to motherhood has always rested on the bedrock of unconditional love. I believe this is what each one of us who chooses to become a parent, owes our children. When I hear of people rejecting their kids for reasons such as their sexual orientation, choice of partner or desired profession, it fills me with sadness and anger. We must accept our children for the individuals they are and support them to meet life as they choose to.”
Sharing how she now reminisces the memories from her sons’ childhood, Zeenat Aman wrote, “My boys are strapping adults in their thirties now, and it feels as though their childhood zipped by before I could catch my breath. So, here are some optional pearls of wisdom for any new parents. Enjoy every moment that you can with your babies, and don’t beat yourself up over the small things. A broken plate here or a teacher’s note there, hardly signal the end of the world. We don’t owe our children perfection, we owe them love, support and guidance.”
The Hare Rama Hare Krishna actress added more details about the blast from the past. She revealed she took it out from a photo album on Monday and got it “scanned.” “It was made in 1990, when Zahaan was not yet one and Azaan was all of three years old. It was taken by the late Gautam Rajadhyaksha, a legendary industry photographer, at the now demolished Sea Rock Hotel in Bandra,” continued Zeenat Aman.
Zeenat Aman’s post, as usual, is a hit on Instagram. Reacting to it, actress Soni Razdan dropped red heart icons while filmmaker Tanuja Chandraa commented: “An eloquent and as always, relevant post. Wonderful to read.”
Shweta Bachchan Nanda, the daughter of Zeenat Aman’s Don co-star Amitabh Bachchan, wrote, “Well said, as always.”
Actress Archana Puran Singh, like us, is “looking forward to reading (more of Zeenat Aman’s) Instagram posts.” She commented: “I’m discovering a new Zeenat through your posts now Z (red heart icon). Love what you wrote here! And right from when you were carrying Azaan… motherhood was a role you were born to and revelled in. I totally agree with your advice to young parents: enjoy every moment with your kids for they grow up all too soon! I do so look forward to ‘reading’ your Instagram posts Zeenat. Much love.”
Zeenat Aman is known for her leading roles in movies such as Don, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Hare Rama Hare Krishna, among many others.
