This year, the first day of Eid may fall on Saturday, April 22. The date was decided after the sighting of the moon of Shawwal, 1444, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The moon did not sight on Thursday, so people in India will celebrate Chand Raat on April 21 and Eid al-Fitr on April 22.
