Jaipur: A middle-aged man pretending to be a doctor entered the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and allegedly molested a 20-year-old woman undergoing treatment. The police arrested the accused in connection with the case.
The accused, posing as a doctor, molested the victim on the pretext of examining her. He touched the victim inappropriately and immediately fled the scene when the victim alerted the staff.
The police arrested the accused based on the complaint of the woman’s father, who stated that the man purposely touched her daughter with the intention of molesting her.

While investigating the case, the police found that the accused is a married man with two sons who molested many women in bus stands, railway stations and hospitals. The accused would target different vulnerable women and molest them in public places.
This time, the accused targeted the 20-year-old woman but failed as she raised the alarm immediately. The incident occurred on April 7 when the man entered the hospital ward at 3.30 pm after telling the guards that he was a medical staff member.
After the hospital authorities informed the police, they immediately reached the spot and acted accordingly. They arrested the accused, a resident of Malrana Doongar tehsil in Sawai Madhopur, on Saturday under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
Speaking to TOI, SMS Hospital police station house officer (SHO) Navratan Dholia said, “He would travel to Jaipur and camp outside the hospital where many philanthropists generously distribute food packets to people who come for treatment from all over Rajasthan. He would eat breakfasts, lunches and dinner outside the hospital before returning to Sawai Madhopur.
“The accused mostly targeted women who were alone. After molesting them, he would quickly flee or vanish in large crowds to mask his identity, said an official.
Stating that the accused has a history of posing as a doctor in order to target women, the official said, “His previous acts clearly indicate he is a notorious pervert. It is possible that some women may not have lodged complaints against him.
The police have also blamed the hospital authorities for the lack of security and CCTV on the premises. In the past, the hospital has been subject to theft cases. Although many theft cases have been reported from the hospital, no action was taken by the administration to take preventive measures.
“The private security guards should have prevented an outsider from entering the hospital, but they did not. Our probe also suggests that the accused was a regular visitor to the hospital. Some of the CCTVs were installed about eight years ago and their upkeep is very poor. There are nearly 20 entry points, anyone can enter and leave without drawing any suspicion, the official claimed.
